Golden Ball
2010 World Cup South Africa
Spain
After losing the first match, to everybody’s surprise, Spain won FIFA 2010 World Cup South Africa. A team full of elite players finally won the first World Cup for the ‘Red Fury’. With an elegant style of play, Vicente del Bosque’s team overcame the first match’s slip-up, and beat each of its opponents until it won the World Cup. Spain has been, according to the specialized press and most football enthusiasts around the world, a righteous champion, with excellent players like Iniesta, Xavi, Xavi Alonso and Cesc Fábregas, a safe defense made up of Puyol and Pique, and a powerful scorer like David Villa, just to name some of the strongest points. When the goalkeeper and captain Iker Casillas lifted the Cup, millions of Spanish people must have surely felt the dream they had had for decades had finally come true: they became the World Champions.
