Romário de Souza Faria –better known simply as Romario- was born January 29, 1966 in Rio de Janeiro. He made his professional debut in Vasco de Gama, but shortly after he moved to PSV Eindhoven, Barcelona, Flamengo, Valencia, Fulminense and many other prestigious clubs. As a strike, he scored in most matches leading teams to victory. On May 20, 2007, Romário scored his 1000th goal, a penalty kick against Sport Recife, playing for Vasco da Gama.
Thanks to Romario´s outstanding performance, Brazil managed to win the 1994 World Cup and he would be awarded with the Golden ball. Even though he was not the top goal scorer in the tournament, he made a clear different in the field and his 5 goals helped Brazil claim their 4th title.
Throughout his career, Romario excelled in every team he played in. His goals and performance are worth every award he obtained in every competition he took part in. Without a doubt, winning the 1994 World Cup and consequently the Golden ball was his greatest achievement.
